A transport-company driver brought a resident to an Arkansas house, but the passenger refused to go inside and said there was a dead person in the home. The company called authorities.

Columbia County deputies responded to the Walkerville-area residence and found the body of Brian Joseph Wright, 58, according to the sheriff’s department.

Wright was originally from Florida and had been living in Emerson, Arkansas. Detectives collected evidence at the residence after deputies confirmed the death.

After the initial investigation, deputies arrested Eddie L. Grainger, 75, of Emerson. He was charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.

Wright’s body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for examination. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
