According to the sheriff’s office, investigators found recordings of women who did not know they were being filmed while in various stages of undress. One of the people recorded was a child.

Deputies identified the owner as Donald Hemphill, 59. Authorities said Hemphill admitted installing the camera roughly four or five months before it was discovered.

The Discovery Became a Criminal Case

Detectives executed a search warrant as they investigated the device and the videos stored on it. The case moved quickly from an employee noticing something unusual in a familiar workplace to an investigation involving the sheriff’s office child exploitation unit.
